1. What is the post code for this installation?
2. Are the appliances under the canopy electric or gas fired or mixed?Gas: Electric: Mixed:
3. . What is the overall length of the equipment which would be positioned under the canopy? Please allow for infill tables. You will require a canopy with an overhang 500mm longer and 300 mm deeper (front to back) than the equipment beneath it to ensure that it is efficient. Length ............................mm
4. What is the ceiling height where the canopy will be positioned and is the ceiling solid or suspended? Ceiling Height................ mm (also state if it is suspended or solid)
5. Is the canopy to be mounted against a wall, or centrally positioned over a cooking islandWall: Mounted: Island:
6. Normally canopies we provide use baffle filters, these remove grease particulates within the air however do not remove odours. If you are within an area where the local authority requires the removal of odours from the cooking process then additional filtration systems may be required. Are you aware of any odour removal requirements in your area?Yes: No:
7. Unless specified systems are designed with standard ductwork, would you have requirements for fire / smoke rated ductwork or fire rated fans? Yes: No:
8. In order to ensure safe working under the canopy lighting should be provided to keep an average lux level of about 500, this can be achieved by bulkhead or flush fitted fluorescent light fittings (more expensive), do you have a preference? Yes: No:
9. As a guideline 85% of air extracted by the canopy should be provided from outside of the kitchen (this does not include adjacent rooms etc. adjacent to the kitchen. Make up air can be provided by different means, how this is achieved will be dependant on site specific circumstances, the size of the canopy, type of equipment and fuel source. Larger kitchens, or those requiring additional ventilation should have systems with integrated or independent filtered mechanical make up air. Smaller kitchens or those with lower output equipment may be able to utilise natural infiltration via screened windows. Would you consider you require a mechanical air input system (additional costs will apply for systems of this nature)? Yes: No:
10. The route for the ductwork to the discharge point is very important, is the canopy positioned against an external wall or under a flat roof?External: Wall: Flat Roof:
11. If the canopy is positioned away from an external wall or flat roof, approximately how far would the ductwork need to proceed to reach an external point?
12. Is the kitchen on the ground floor? If not which floor is the kitchen on?
13. If any how many storeys are above the kitchen? If you are using gas fired cooking equipment then the ultimate discharge point must be over the eves of the building. In some areas, especially built up town areas there may also be a requirement to discharge above the building.
14. Are you aware of any planning restrictions which may apply to external ductwork and discharge points (for example listed building or local regulations)? Do you need help with this? Yes: No:
15.Are there any specific requirements with regard to noise, some local authorise will specify a maximum noise level especially in a built up area. Dampeners can be installed, however these in turn increase resistance and may therefore require a larger fan?Yes: No:
16. If you did proceed with installation then it is likely that some builders work may be required with the installation, for example the forming of a hole in wall or roof for ductwork. We are able to provide this service, however if you have builders on site completing other works then it may be more cost effective for them to complete this elements of the works. Would you require us to complete the builders works?Yes: No:
17. Scaffolding may be required to install the fan and ducting systems, if required would you like us to include this element?Yes: No:
18. If you are using gas fired cooking equipment then an Interlock system including a solenoid valve will require fitting, would you require us to undertake this element of the works? If you have a gas fitter on site then we can provide the valve to them for fitting, this would be more cost effective.Yes: No:
19. Due to the nature of the system we would not normally undertake the final electrical connections for the system, however you will need to have sufficient capacity to power the fans. On larger canopies this can be quite substantial, we will be able to advise and check requirements. Would you require us to complete the final electrical connections for the canopy system? Yes: No:
20. Do you require stainless steel cladding beneath the canopy (wall canopies only)? If so please indicate if the canopy is located on a flat wall without a wall on either side, in a corner (i.e. with a return wall to one side) or with walls to both sides (i.e. takes up the whole end of a kitchen). Please note walls will need to be completely flat prior to cladding in steel. Yes: No:
